Thank you for walking through the steps so clearly. It's alarming how convincing these social engineering scams have become, and even more worrying how limited the recovery options are once the hackers switch out contact info.

Yep, it wasn't fun, but my kid braved it well and has learned some good lessons, without losing anything that's truly important. I would rather her learn this lesson with a social media account instead of a banking account!!

yup - bank accounts can be a pain.

I sporadically log into my social accts (which are not many) to check to see where else I have active sessions. Those can also be very helpful in preventing future hacks.
